Look for rash guards that are UPF rated. Most of our rash guards qualify for the UPF 50 rating and a few are even rated UPF50+. UPF
means Ultraviolet Protection Factor. It’s similar to SPF for sunscreens that we are all familiar with. So a rash guard shirt with UPF of 50
only allows 1/50th of the UV radiation through to the skin. Other than UPF, you should look at color; darker is better but hotter to wear if
that is a factor. Weight (thickness) is also a factor. Cheap rash guards you may find on the web are very lightweight. We don’t sell cheap
quality here but we start at midweight and have heavier shirts such as O’Neill for additional protection. Also as a rash guard stretches,
its UPF goes down, so order one large enough! If you've got any other questions, please be sure to check our (FAQ) page covering
